LIFE is BEAUTIFUL!

WISDOM

To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom. Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.---RALPH WALDO EMERSON

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.---ABRAHAM LINCOLN
There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state to another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life.---ALEXANDRE DUMAS
“It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes... we make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions - especially selfish ones" --- Alexander Solzhenitsyn quotes (Russian novelist, Nobel Prize for Literature (1970), b.1918)
“Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself.” ---Kahlil Gibran

Wednesday's Catch

Yes, it’s Wednesday. As my regular Weds I got up at 6 had a shower, got dressed and waited for a cab to work. I haven’t taken the bus ride to work since this year started. I just think that my days start better when I can breathe and relax on my way to work. Not that I hate taking the bus it’s just being in a crowded situation doesn’t give me peace at all. There are more to see if one is exposed to more people in the morning which totally the opposite of what I prefer which is at least being alone.

After a few minutes of waiting the taxi came and as usual I told the driver to send me to my university. I enjoyed the ride today, the driver was a lot smarter than yesterday. Why? oh well, yesterday was pretty annoying the driver was so religious staying on the second lane! There were a couple of chances for him to change lane as it would get us faster to where we were heading but he was just so inclined to a single lane. Anyway, I don’t want to talk about him, the driver today was a lot better. As we were approaching near my university, I checked whether my fave coffee stall was already opened. I always ask the taxi driver to stop me to the coffee stall. Unless I get to work too early and the woman hasn't opened her stall yet then I get off right in front of the university gate.

I was about to tell the driver to stop when he said, “ Yes, you have to get off here for coffee.” I was surprised! I had no clue he was going to tell me that and so he could remember me! It made me smile and from that moment I recalled that yes, for once or twice that I have taken the same cab to work….I mean to the coffee stall.

I think my Friday will be fine. An early morning smile is a great start compared to some inconveniences that we may encounter at times. I had a quick ride to work, sipped my freshly brewed coffee, had breakfast and yes, had my two slices of papaya! Wednesdays always treat me well, probably that’s why it is my favorite day! I just love Wednesdays!
