LIFE is BEAUTIFUL!

WISDOM

To understand reality is not the same as to know about outward events. It is to perceive the essential nature of things. The best-informed man is not necessarily the wisest. Indeed there is a danger that precisely in the multiplicity of his knowledge he will lose sight of what is essential. But on the other hand, knowledge of an apparently trivial detail quite often makes it possible to see into the depth of things. And so the wise man will seek to acquire the best possible knowledge about events, but always without becoming dependent upon this knowledge. To recognize the significant in the factual is wisdom. Dietrich Bonhoeffer:

THOUGHTS TO PONDER

Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus.---RALPH WALDO EMERSON

Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.---ABRAHAM LINCOLN
There is neither happiness nor misery in the world; there is only the comparison of one state to another, nothing more. He who has felt the deepest grief is best able to experience supreme happiness. We must have felt what it is to die, that we may appreciate the enjoyments of life.---ALEXANDRE DUMAS
“It is not because the truth is too difficult to see that we make mistakes... we make mistakes because the easiest and most comfortable course for us is to seek insight where it accords with our emotions - especially selfish ones" --- Alexander Solzhenitsyn quotes (Russian novelist, Nobel Prize for Literature (1970), b.1918)
“Wisdom ceases to be wisdom when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh, and too selfish to seek other than itself.” ---Kahlil Gibran

Of beauty and desires

Good day today, was really dragging myself to get  up just felt so great to stay on bed. Lovin' the weather in the morning it still feels like December.

Classes were okay and one of the topics I had with my teens was on interests and obsessions. First, we talked on the best things in life, of course people have different perspectives and have different things that are important to each one. Anyway, we came to a point of discussing rhinoplasty as one my my students plan to get one.

At break time, a Thai friend related her plan of getting a nose job (what a coincidence!) and  is considering the best clinic as much possible. I remember, I mentioned a name when another friend got his and it did really come out great. I found out that there are  lots of affordable clinics here in Bangkok. My friend shared her facebook friend's pictures stating  each person's  rhinoplasty in different clinics and hospitals. Some really looked great and made them a lot beautiful. I came to realize that beauty indeed is highly available in here and they aren't expensive. Some just get their nose done for less than 10K, surprised? The cheapest is at 3k, I heard.

Names of clinics and  hospitals were talked about  as  Fortune clinic in Rachadapisek which heard (again) has the longest queue. Like a friend of a friend had her schedule last year and is to undergo under the knife this October. Imagine. Lakram, Phayathai, Vejthani and Yanhee were also among the most popular. Some of those hospitals are set to foreign clients obviously, the prices are a bit higher  unlike those small clinics in some areas.

Oh well, I was pretty amazed that they get a nose job even in high school and  in their early twenties (of course, anyone can get at any age...what am I talking about? haha!). I haven't had any cosmetic surgery experience and minding of the costs in here, I can't deny that the thought of it sparks  a bit   of interest.

Lastly, I highly admire beauty (who doesn't?) both natural and even the "engineered".  The notion of hoping to get better in a sense is interesting. Okay, I have to say it, to "'be physically beautiful" . Hahaha, I'm not saying I'm getting a cosmetic surgery, it interests me as the obsession for enhancing beauty is  normal, I assume.  Nonetheless  frankly, I still  desire  for pure beauty........at least for now. :)
